A note about our caps

Let's talk about the caps.

Some of you have told us the cap on your perfume went soft, sticky or out of shape. You were right to tell us, and we'd rather talk about it openly than hope nobody notices. Here's what's happening and what we're doing about it.

What's happening

Perfume is tough on plastic.

Perfume is mostly alcohol and fragrance oil, and both are strong solvents. In a small number of bottles, a little perfume finds its way up into the cap. Over time, and faster in the heat, it can soften the plastic insert and the glue inside.

When that happens the cap can swell, go sticky, lose its colour or show the metal piece inside.

Is my perfume OK?

It's a packaging issue, and it's ours to fix.

The problem is the cap. Still, we'd rather you didn't keep using a bottle with a damaged cap, so tell us and we'll replace it.

What we're doing about it.

  1. Sending replacementsDamaged cap? Fill in the form and we'll send you a replacement.
  2. Moving to a new capNew cap samples are in and being tested now. We'll update this page when they're on every bottle.
  3. Tracking every reportYour batch number helps us find where it started and stop it happening again.

Until then

Keep your bottle happy.

  1. Store it uprightSo the perfume stays in the bottle, not the cap.
  2. Keep it out of the heatNot in the car, not on a sunny windowsill, not next to the shower.
  3. Wipe the neck before the cap goes back onA quick wipe stops perfume creeping up into the cap.

Got a damaged cap?

Fill in a two minute form and we'll sort out a replacement.

Thanks for sticking with us, and for telling us when something's not right. That's how we get better.
